i spent the morning at an auction and picked up a south bend metal lathe. i ran into a friend, john, from the OWWM forum who was able to help me go over the lathe. once i had won the bid on the lathe i had to get the tool cabinet that was next to it as well. all the tooling and accessories for this lathe were in it. when it came up someone else wanted it too and we bid it up to $700 before i stopped. then a second later he said “oh i wanted the cabinet on the end” so we started over with the cabinet i wanted, which i then got for $300

shop progress day 5
after the compaction test yesterday, it was decided this morning after some discussion to dig out all of the soft material at the south end of the site, and also to move the building 2 more feet to the north.

shop progress day 3
after a round of discussion this morning we are going to move the building 2 feet to the west and keep it the same width. changing the foot print is a big enough change to cause a delay, and we are out of timeouts. on a fun note they let me use the bobcat to move some dirt.

shop progress day 2
things are progressing, in order to make the foundation a little easier at the south end (far end in the photo) we are going to move the shop to the north 18 inches. and because of how the hole was dug, and after a closer examination of the zoning we are going to skinny up the building by 18 to 24 inches.
